Sundance Beach Supports Project South Swell

Sundance Beach is proud to support Project Save our Surf and The Wahine Project’s event called Project South Swell.  This month long international tour through Southern California to the coast of Nayarit, Mexico provides young Wahines from under served communities access to the empowering sport of surfing, the self-esteem improving practice of yoga and introduction to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The events will be hosted by Project Save Our Surf Ambassador local Trae Candy and Founder of Wahine Project Dionne Ybarra.  They will make 8 stops through California and 6 stops through Mexico.  Each stop will include a yoga session, surf clinic, and beach clean-up combined with short conservation message and plan of action for each participant.  The goal is to spread the word that, “Geography and language may separate us but a passion for surfing and for some a new found responsibility to the ocean unifies us and bonds us together through stewardship and we no longer notice what seemingly set us apart.”

The events started today in Monterey, but our local Goleta stop will be tomorrow July 31st at Campus Point starting at 10am.  One of the highlights at this Goleta stop will be an opportunity for girls to participate in creating a mural piece led by local Katie McLean, winner of the Roxy “Let the Sea Set You Free” contest.

We hope you can make at least one of these events, but if you can’t there is always to the option of helping out with an online donation.  Just click the link to their site below for more information about this project and show you’re support towards this great cause.
