In an era of plagiarized design and copycat corporations, it’s nice to see a fresh approach in the surf industry. The lads at The Roark Revival have focused their brand around tales of mischief and adventurism. Each season Roark ventures out to a remote, and sometimes hostile land to draw inspiration for their entire season’s clothing line. From Reykjavik to Havana, their story has been re-imagined through the clothing.
For Summer 2015 Collection, Roark meandered across the pond to Senegal, West Africa in search of “winding streets, sun-drenched desert, and colorful personalities” for their Volume 8: The Gnar of Dakar. An authentic story of danger, desolation, rumors, voodoo, and surf soon followed. All of this resulting in a collection “inspired by West African traditional textiles, racing, mystery, and a fair amount of hard-earned sweat.”
