Putting Volcom’s Summer 2015 Boardshorts to the Test in Cloudbreak
Last October, a sneaky storm in the Southern Ocean sent a XXL swell to Fiji’s infamous Cloudbreak. Lucky for us, our Sundance Beach Pioneer Andrew Bennett and Surfing Mag lensman Nick Liotta headed out to meet the swell in the nick of time. Volcom sent Andrew out with the new line of Summer 2015 boardshorts to road test in the extreme conditions. Andrew preferred the Volcom Camo Mod Boardshorts as you can see featured in the slideshow above. What better way to test the trunks durability than put them through the ringer in one of the biggest swells that the tiny island chain has seen since the legendary Volcom Fiji Pro swell of June 2012.
The swell had moments of perfection between rain squalls and changes in wind direction allowing for a few mad men to paPutddle into some 12-15ft bombs that could rip the boardshorts right off of ya. Andrew scored some nuggets and looked poised and calm in the heavy surf. In the end giant tubes were made, jet ski rescues were successful, flotation vests were used, and the trunks made it pretty unscathed as well!

Meanwhile here in California, Summer 2015 is approaching us faster than Gabriel Medina can claim his next chop hop. This means warmer temperatures, babes on the beach, and waves from the South. It is also that time of year when we check out last years boardies to see how bad the previous Summer’s “raging in the sun” has damaged them. With styles and trends changing every year, why not “treat yo self” to some fresh new boardshorts?
This summer Volcom produced some really cool boardshorts. If you want a brighter boardshort that is still very wearable, the Volcom Floral Lines boardshort is the way to go. While it has a floral pattern, it is not a cheesy floral pattern like some floral print boardshorts tend to have. Instead, Volcom mixes natural colors to form a floral/geo/camo print.
The floral to solid contrast on styles like the Volcom Macaw Mod make Volcom’s boardshorts very wearable.
The geometric camo print on the Volcom Camo Mod Boardshort is a mellow mixture of geometric shapes, tonal blacks and greys with a contrast waistband for a subtle pop.
The Volcom Libroation Boardshort is an exceptionally easy wear. With a white contrast back pocket for pop, and scalloped hems, you can have all the latest in boardshort trends without screaming for attention. If you’re looking for some rad boardshorts this season and haven’t checked out Volcom’s selection yet, I’d suggest checking out what they got in their chamber.
