Only half-way through the waiting period contest organizers have given the green light for the 2015 Rincon Classic presented by Hurely to run this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – January 23-25! Surf Happens director and Rincon Classic head honcho Chris Keet has seen enough to make a convincing call with conditions looking stellar throughout the weekend.

A solid Northwest swell will start to show on Friday afternoon, peaking Saturday morning. This new round of swell will provide overhead sets throughout the weekend-long event. Weather forecasts are calling for 75 degree air temps with light wind as well! That’s a dreamy scenario!

We are super stoked to have our Pioneers entering the Classic once again this year. Five-time Champ Kilian Garland will try for his 6th Pro Division win, and Pioneers Andrew Bennett and Adam Lambert will be entering the water in the Pro Division heats as well. Our swimwear model Cassidy Urbany will also be ripping in the Wahine Division!

The 2015 Rincon Classic will run a staggering 12 divisions this year! From little “Gremlins” to the Pro heats, action will be as good as it gets as local heroes, standout pros, stylish women, and youngsters battle it out for cash prizes and tons of gear donated by the event sponsors.

A new segment added to the mix this year is the “King of the Queen” Division! This team event will pit local surf shops against one another in a battle royale to see who takes the crown. In this innovative mini-contest, each shop will enter a four man team that must consist of a shop employee, a shop team rider, a master (over 30), and one grom (under 13).

There will be food available for purchase as well as free gear from the sponsors tents lined along the shore. An added bonus this year is the new overflow parking lot at the Channel Islands Surfboards Factory just up the street. A free shuttle will transport you back and forth from the lot. This is huge as parking fills up each year and you would otherwise have to walk for quite a while to get to the event.
