2014 Rincon Classic Set to Run This Weekend!
Prime Conditions Will Allow Contest to Start on First Day of Waiting Period!
The 2014 Channel Islands Surfboards Rincon Classic Presented by Hurley will get an early start this year thanks to a solid NW swell and stellar conditions. On January 18th and 19th, thousands will pack the shore along the rivermouth section of the point during the two day event as top local and regional pros battle it out for the Pro Division crown.
Considering temps are forecasted to be in the high 70’s in January, you can expect a good turnout for the annual surf contest. The pro division looks stacked this year with multiple Rincon Classic winner and Sundance Beach Pioneer Kilian Garland going head to head against local pros like Frank and Pat Curren, Pete Mussio, Mike McCabe, and another one of our Pioneers, Andrew Bennett! Standout pros like Yadin Nicol, Bobby Martinez, Conner and Parker Coffin, and even Dane Reynolds are scheduled to show up as well!
In the Women’s Division, our Pioneer Demi Boelsterli will look to win her 10th Rincon Classic title! Her utter dominance of The Con is unprecedented. The Classic will be a great warm-up for Demi as she heads out on the ASP WQS Series in Australia this February where she will try to rack up points to qualify for the ASP World Tour.
If you live in Southern California you should definitely make your way up to The Queen of the Coast for the 31st Annual Rincon Classic! With conditions this promising, it will be one for the ages!
